Guillermo Bocanegra Jim\u00e9nez is a Colombian guitarist and composer dedicated to the performance and creation of contemporary Latin American music, with an emphasis on performance and new music. He is a member of two leading groups in Colombia: the guitar trio Trip Trip Trip<\/a> and the Ensemble CG<\/a>, with which he has maintained a continuous concert and recording activity. He is a full-time professor at the ASAB Faculty of Arts of the Francisco Jos\u00e9 de Caldas District University (Bogot\u00e1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a soloist, he has built a discography focused on contemporary repertoire – La otra guitarra (2002)<\/a>, La tradici\u00f3n se rompe\u2026 (2004), and \u2026c\u00edrculo de tierra roja\u2026 (2009)<\/a>\u2014and published an artistic research projectcentered around the Ciclo del Exilio (Exile Cycle)<\/a>, dedicated to the guitar works of composer Guillermo Rend\u00f3n. This project resulted in a book-CD initially released in 2017 and a recent phonographic edition (Bandcamp, November 16, 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Trip Trip Trip<\/a>, formed in 2008, the group\u2019s work focuses on repertoires from Colombia and Latin America, with an emphasis on the creation, arrangement, and international circulation of new music. The trio\u2019s recordings include Trip Trip Trip (2012)<\/a>, Qu\u00e9 cosa tan seria (2014)<\/a>, and Como quien oye llover (2017)<\/a>, the latter released by Willowhayne Records. They have participated in showcases and festivals such as Classical:NEXT (Rotterdam, 2017) and Heidelberg Fr\u00fchling (2018). Under the theme of memory, they released Ireneo on vinyl in 2023, featuring works composed specifically for the trio. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

With the CG Ensemble\u2014founded and directed by Rodolfo Acosta since 1995\u2014he has premiered and taken part in experimental practices, documented in productions such as Onijetiva Music (2011)<\/a> and CG Ensemble Live: Colombian Composers (2015)<\/a>, and presented in venues including Teatro Mayor and the Luis \u00c1ngel Arango Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the academic field, his teaching and research work integrates interpretation, improvisation, composition, and performance. He holds a Master’s degree in Music, a Master’s degree in Composition and Performance, and a Master’s degree in Technology Education, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Artistic Creation at the University of Aveiro (Portugal), a program developed in partnership with the Polytechnics of Leiria and Porto. His research explores inter- and transdisciplinary approaches oriented toward the production of relational knowledge, with Cycle of Exile<\/em> (2018) among his published results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
